Obituary of Nancy L. Karpinski

Age 81, passed away peacefully at her home, after a short illness, on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Nancy was born in Sayre PA, one of seven children. She was predeceased by parents John and Louise Maslinski; husbands, Joseph McCarthy and William Karpinski. Nancy was also predeceased by her grandson Joseph Brewer. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and Richard Brewer … Laura and Jeffery Brown; son John McCarthy, all of Elmira; grandchildren, Jessica Brewer (with husband Jonathan Dobbs), Christine Brewer, Cassandra Brown and Tyler Brown; great grandchildren, Veronica Brewer-Chalk, Hunter and Melanie Dobbs, Kalden Crowningshield and Gavin Baranyk; sisters, Sylvia Bierwiler and Betsy Pidcoe; several nieces and nephews. Adopted at an early age, Nancy grew up on Elmira's Southside and was a graduate of Southside High School. Nancy enjoyed helping people and for many years was a home health care provider. She loved to play bingo, trips to the casino, and playing cards with her sisters and friends. Nancy was always very active. Never one to sit still, she would take a trip on a moment's notice. She especially loved going to the ocean with her family. Most special to Nancy was fulfilling her life-long dream of a trip to Ireland with her daughters. Nancy loved time spent with family, especially the time with her grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 West Water St., Elmira, on Monday, October 19, 2020 from 12:00 noon to 1:15 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Committal prayers and interment will then take place at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery.
