Obituary of Elizabeth C. McNamara

Elizabeth C. McNamara "Betty" Elmira: Age 80, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Betty was born in Blossburg PA on July 14, 1930, the daughter of the late Dr. Daniel S. and Gladys (Munro) Brazda. She was predeceased by her husband William P. McNamara in 2004. Betty is survived by her children, Steven McNamara of Elmira, Elizabeth McNamara with Steve "Hank" Beggs of Lutz FL, Melissa Johnson with husband Robert of Elmira, and Mary McNamara of Dansville NY. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles "Chuck" and Shirley Brazda of Blossburg; step-grandchildren, Nathan, Felicia, and Jakob Johnson; sister-in-law Ann McNamara of Nesquehoning PA; nieces and nephews, Tina, Cindy and Cathy, Mary Catherine, Thomas, Michael, James, Catherine, Eileen and Fran; and many close friends. She was a graduate of Blossburg High School and later Robert Packer School of Nursing. Betty was a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, working on Pediatrics, and later was a visiting nurse with the Chemung County Health Department from where she retired. She enjoyed her career in nursing as well as cooking and baking for her family. Betty was a proud member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets, on Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation, with Pastor Michael Weeden officiating. Graveside committal prayers and interment will be held at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Betty's grave is located inside the Mount Zoar Street gate.
