Obituary of John Heher

John Vincent Heher Age 63 of Pittsburgh, PA passed away suddenly on Friday, March 8, 2013. He was the loving husband of Susan Emery Heher, devoted father of Kevin Heher of Pittsburgh, PA and Michael Heher of Tahoe City, CA. He is also survived by his mother Eleanor Heher Flynn of Elmira, NY and sister, Mimi Heher of Horseheads, NY. John was predeceased by his father Vincent E. Heher and step-father Jack Flynn. John was CEO of Liberty Insurance Agency which has been under his ownership and leadership since 1985. His son Kevin joined him in the business in 2006. John shared his expertise over his 38 years in the business with national insurance companies serving on many of their advisory boards. John had been active on the Board at the Club at Nevillewood for the past 8 years. He was an avid golfer and truly loved the sport, playing on his high school and college teams. He also loved fly-fishing which the family enjoyed doing together, taking many vacations to beautiful streams. John has been a Board member on the National Kidney Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and was just named Honoree of the Year for his service and fundraising for the organization. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the National Kidney Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, 4800 Kennywood Blvd., West Mifflin PA 15122 or Notre Dame High School, 1400 Maple Ave., Elmira NY 14904. The family requests you consider becoming an organ donor on your driver's license if you have not done so already. John's Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the same time as the Mass of Christian Burial for his mother, Eleanor Heher Flynn, on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Elmira.
