Obituary of Beverly A. Liddy

Beverly Goggin Liddy "Bev" Passed away, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, one day after her 82nd birthday, after a long illness. Bev was born in Elmira on March 26, 1931, the daughter of the late Thomas and Reva (Kinney) Goggin. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John F. "Jack" Liddy; children with their families, John T. and Nancy Liddy, Tully NY with sons, Daniel, Eric and Patrick; Anne W. and Paul Gamerdinger, Morristown NJ with sons, Matthew and Justin; Mary R. and Burke FitzPatrick, LaFayette NY with children, Tanner, Molly and Evan; sister-in-law Rose Supple, formerly of Elmira; several nieces and nephews; special lifelong friend Connie Bergh, Elmira. Bev is predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leo and Geraldine Liddy, Margaret "Sis" and John Carroll and Edward Supple. Bev was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed sharing lunch with her nursing school classmates on a monthly basis. Bev was a long time communicant of St. Mary's Church. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Bev's memory be directed to St. Joseph's Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, 555 St. Joseph's Blvd., Elmira NY 14901. The Liddy family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the Nursing Facility staff who made Bev's last months so comfortable with loving care. Members of St. Joseph's School of Nursing Alumni will meet at St. Mary's Church at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, to form an honor guard for Beverly.
