Obituary of Mary Louise Balash

Mary L. Balash Elmira Heights: Mary was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1919 and passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the age of 93. She was a daughter of Daniel and Anna (Matta) Butray. She is predeceased by her husband Sam Balash and siblings, Helen Atkinson, Frances Rodzai, Margaret Augustine, Martha Kehoe, and Dorothy Matteson. Mary is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Nancy Balash, Elmira; daughter and son-in-law, Martha A. and J. Scott Williams, Elmira; grandchildren, Michael A. (Amy) Balash, Elmira Heights, Nancy (Esmirelda) Yeremeyva-Henderson, Dublin OH, Mary Williams and Michael Williams, Athens PA; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Garrison, Allyson and Carson Balash; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Virginia Butray, Horseheads; brother-in-law Robert Matteson, Horseheads; along with several nieces and nephews. Mary had been a long time communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society. She enjoyed swimming and was a regular at the Elmira Free Academy pool into her early 80's. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Church, where she had been attending church, with her daughter, the past few years. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
