Obituary of JoAnn M. Bellinger

JoAnn M. Bellinger Elmira: Age 70, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital. JoAnn was born February 21, 1943, in Elmira, the daughter of the late Joseph J., Jr. and Carolyn (Argyle) Antenore. In addition to her parents she is predecased by her infant sister Rose. JoAnn is survived by her sons, and their families, Thomas E., Jr. and Kathy Bellinger, Waverly, with children, Jeffrey (Nichole) Bellinger, Stefanie Bellinger, Aubree Fruscello, Meggan (Sgt. Joshua, U S Army) Correll, and Kara Fruscello; Joseph G. and Suann Bellinger, Pine City, with sons, Matthew (Elyse) and Bradley; Douglas S. and Amy Bellinger, Elmira, with sons, Zachary and Dylan; great-granddaugghters, Audrey Bellinger, Miah Correll and Sidra Fruscello; sisters and brothers-in-law, Roseanne M. and Ronald Cantando, Carolyn J. and Lyle Smith, all of Elmira; along with several nieces and nephews. JoAnn's parents owned the popcorn, peanuts and ice cream stand at Eldridge Park. For many years JoAnn, her sisters, and their children, all worked the stand and have great memories of those times. She worked in the attendance office at Booth School for 28 years. After her retirement JoAnn kept busy volunteering at St. Joseph's Hospital. An avid sports fan, her favorite teams were the Elmira Jackals and the NY Yankees. JoAnn was the first person to move into the new Parkview Terrace Apartments in Pine City and was known as the "mayor" of the aprtments. A devout Catholic she was a life long communicant of St. Anthony's Church, now Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was a fully professed 3rd Order Dominican. Family was the most important part of JoAnn's life. She was the family historian (everyone was her cousin!) and enjoyed organizing family reunions and class reunions. Her cherished times were those spent with her children, grandchildren and sisters. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 12:45 p.m, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember JoAnn with a donation to the Dominican Monastery, 1310 W. Church Street., Elmira NY 14905.
