I worked with Karen for many years when she was a VESID Program Director. She referred many people to the nonprofit agency where I was employed. Karen impressed me with her compassion, common sense, sense of humor and humanity. She was a warm, caring and community-minded person who was dedicated to human rights and improving the lives of people with disabilities.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Reading her life story there is no doubt that she was loved and will be truly missed. I am so sorry to hear of Karen's passing. Many years ago I babysat Karen's girls Ashley and Danielle. They are an amazing family to have suffered loss of both parents far too early. 40 plus years of knowing someone like Karen has been a blessing filled with many events and adventures. Life brought our paths to cross again and again where we shared our compassion to give, teach and help others. I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Karen Edwards. We go back many years to the 60’s and 70’s. Mark Twain Cadets brought us together. Life then was so enjoyable and memorable. The entire Burdick family live in my memory. I left NY back in 79 but I took with me all those memories. RIP Karen until we meet again. Love and healing energy to all the family.

I have so many special memories of this wonderful lady, Karen Edwards. My husband Bill and I have lived away from Elmira for many years and any visit home always included a lunch get together with Karen and/or Karen, Ashley and Danni. At one point, I was doing jewelry shows and Karen, of coarse, immediately offered to host a large show in her lovely home and it was an afternoon full of great food and many laughs! Karen always managed to bring our family a towering tray of beautiful Christmas cookies every year no matter how busy she was. I will carry these memories with me and my heart is full with the Edwards family and my life so much the richer for having Karen in it. Loving prayers to all of you.
