Age 91, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, December 27, 2018. Mary Jean was born in Hornell NY, a daughter of Daniel T. and Anna (Theilen) McCormick. She is predeceased by her husband of 45 years John E. Lagonegro, brothers: Robert and Raymond McCormick, sisters: Ruth (Phillip) Hoeffner and Patricia (John) Kline; brothers-in-law: Robert Hoeffner and Edward F. Lagonegro, and sister-in-law Ann Sullivan. Mary Jean is survived by her daughters and their families: Mary E. and James Weingart of Arlington VA with children: Elissa, Patrick (Rebecca DiMarco) and Olivia Weingart; Jean M. Lagonegro of Elmira; Joan E. and Michael Prechtl of Elmira with children: Jillienne (Lucas) Allgauer, Samantha (Bryan) Pike, Jacob (Kathleen Denicola), Daniel Prechtl; Dr. Ann L. Lagonegro, DMD of Gloucester VA with son John "Jack" Lagonegro; great-grandchildren: Jude and Zoey Pike; brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Rosemary McCormick of Hornell; twin sister Mary Jane Hoeffner of Santa Fe NM; sister and brother-in-law Ann and James O'Brien of Rochester NY; sisters-in-law: Mary Sue Hale of Tucson AZ and Judy Lagonegro of Mobile AL; along with several nieces and nephews. A graduate of Arnot Ogden Hospital School of Nursing, Mary Jean worked for Dr. Alfred Mitchell for 25 years. She then continued her career at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, retiring after 20 years of service. Mary Jean was a long time communicant of St. Casimir's Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her on Monday, December 31, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at St. Casimir's Church. All are invited.
