Obituary of Shirley J. White

Elmira: born November 26, 1935, the only child of Milton and Gladys Fish, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, after a re-occurring fight with cancer. She is predeceased by her husband Richard "Dick" T. White. Shirley is survived by her children and their spouses: P.J. and Debbie White, Rusty White, and Bill and JoAnn White; grandchildren: Kelly Marks and husband David, Michael White, Colin White, and Meghan Mackowiak; great-grandson: Declan Marks; cousin, and dear friend, LuAnn Cottone and her family. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Southside High School. She was employed in the family business, Gregory Moving & Storage, and for many years at Newberry's Department Store. Shirley enjoyed her family and friends and the time she spent with them. She was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Shirley's family would like to thank Drs. Rupik, Reddy and Goff, and their staff, for their care and support. A special thank you, too, to the staff at AOMC ER, 2B and 5D, for their care and kindness over the last few months. A Celebration of Shirley's Life will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Manzari's Grill, 105 E. Miller Street, Elmira NY 14904. Please stop by, if you can, to remember Shirley. Private burial will be held at Woodlawn National Cemetery where Shirley will be buried with her husband Richard. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Shirley's memory to either the Josh Palmer Fund, P O Box 3223, Elmira NY 14905, or the SPCA, 2435 Route 352, Elmira NY 14903.
