Obituary of Betty Faulkner Chalk
Age 80, a former long-time Elmira resident, passed away peacefully at home in Sayre, PA on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on December 12, 1937, daughter of the late Ross Faulkner and Theresa and John Burns. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Robert A. Chalk, brother George (Joyce) Faulkner, sister Mary (Fred) Vaughn, mother-in-law and father-in-law Josephine and Carmen Chalk, sister-in-law Grace (Bud) Cook. She is survived by her sons, with their families, Jeffrey C. and Karen Chalk of Sayre, PA with children Kara (fiancé Ken Hartnett), Kirsten, Benjamin and Jack; Martin J and Sandra Chalk of Horseheads, NY with children Danielle (Pat) McFarland, Melissa (fiancé Geoffrey Poley) and Jenifer Chalk. Also surviving are sister and brother-in-law Margaret and George Cruise; brother-in-law Martin D. Chalk; along with many nieces, nephews and special furry friend Mollie. Betty was a high school graduate and beauty contestant winner in her younger years. She was employed at Moretti’s Restaurant, Office Manager at Moore Business Forms, bookkeeper at Martin Lubricants and finished her career as a bookkeeper, and floral designer, at HomeScapes. Betty enjoyed 25 wonderful years at her beloved Forest Country Club Community in Ft. Myers, Florida where she was the life of the party. She was an avid golfer, homemaker, cook and fan of the NY Giants football team. Her beauty, elegance, kindness and sweet personality fit perfectly with her infectious laugh and witty sense of humor. Betty cherished the time spent with family, especially her seven grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt whose memory will live on. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 9:45 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Betty with a donation to Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Rd, Towanda, PA 18848.
