Age 92 of Elmira Heights, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born in Elmira NY son Frank and Elizabeth (Franko) Morich. George was predeceased by his wife Mary Ellen (Pautz) Morich, great granddaughter, Natalia, brother and sister-in-law Metro and Eileen Morich; brother-in-law Daniel Pautz. He is survived by children with their families, Kathleen E. and Brian Bradley of Phoenix AZ with Kara, K.C. and Jessica; Nancy A. and Gene Barcomb of Horseheads with Julie and Lisa; Karen E. and Brian Qualey Horseheads with children Bridget and Patrick; Michael and Xiaoming Morich of Longwood FL with daughter Lulu; Susan M. and Daniel Turner of Bluffton SC with daughters Kati, Megan and Sarah; sister Mary and Arthur Butts of Elmira Heights; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Vera Morich, Sam Morich all of Elmira Heights NY, Carol Pautz of Ellenville NY; also surviving are 22 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. George was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He led a very active life and was a man of many talents. There was nothing George couldn't do. George retired from American Bridge in Elmira Heights. While working for the Bridge works, George and his brothers built many houses in the Heights. They owned property on 14th St. where they built Morich Furniture which they operated for nearly 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the Horseheads Elks Post 2297 and a member the Elmira Heights American Legion Post 154. George was a longtime volunteer fireman with the Elmira Heights Fire Department. He was a life-long communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church. First and foremost, George was a family man. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was beyond measure. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Elmira Heights. Committal prayers and interment, with military honors, will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. The family will provide flowers. Those wishing may remember George with a donation to Meals on Wheels of Chemung County, 409 William Street, Elmira NY 14901. Officers and members of the Horseheads Elks will meet at McInerny Funeral Home, on Friday, at 6:30 p.m. to conduct a service for our brother, George.
