Mark A. Ungvarsky Age 58 of Elmira, NY; born February 24, 1954, went home in the loving arms of our Lord, after an extended illness, on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Throughout his illness, Mark was an inspiration and pillar of strength to those he knew and loved so dearly. Mark was the son of the late Michael A. Ungvarsky, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Eloise Doud Ungvarsky of Nelson, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael A. Ungvarsky, Jr. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mark is survived by his wife of 36 years, Michaela A. McAlinn Ungvarsky; children, John M. Ungvarsky of Garland, TX, and Melissa A. (Cpt. Kenneth) Woodford, Jr. of Ft. Hood, TX; grandchildren, Michaela M. and Emma C. Woodford, and Mark D. Ungvarsky; sister, Sharon R. (Jonathan) Roberts of Rochester, NY; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Patrick (Sue) McAlinn of Morrisville, NC, Arthur (Diane) McAlinn of Smithfield, NC, Alaric (Kathleen) McAlinn of Elmira, NY, Deirdre (Mark) Padgett of Elmira, NY, Harry (Mary) McAlinn of Elmira, NY, William (Julie) McAlinn of Horseheads, NY, and Mary (David) Grandquest of Daphne, AL; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, located at 502 West Water Street in Elmira, NY, on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at 9:15 a.m., to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Elmira, NY. Committal prayers and burial, with military honors, will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. Mark was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in Thailand. He was employed by John M. Forster Company for over 20 years; after which he was employed by General Electric and KOM Lamb in industrial sales. Mark was a long time communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Elmira, NY, where he showed his devotion to the Lord by freely volunteering whenever and wherever needed. His faith never waived throughout his health struggles. He enjoyed golfing with his family and was a diehard fan of the New York Giants and Yankees.
