Elmira: Age 85, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, with his loving family by his side, on Monday, June 20, 2016. Daniel was born on July 26, 1930 in Elmira, the son of John and Susan Connelly Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Walchli Murphy; children, Tracy (Tom) Lorden of Elmira, Michelle (Joe) Lewis of West Seneca, NY, Mandy (Steve) Hicks of Harrison, NY, Mark (Janet) Murphy of West Palm Beach, FL, Maggie (Bob) Flint of Vestal, NY, Kathy (Bob) McCarrick of Elmira, Molly (Brett) Peterson of Horseheads, NY and Christopher (Suzanne) Murphy of Elmira; 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Danny graduated from Southside High School in 1948 and Alfred State College. He served his country in the U S Army during the Korean War. He was employed at I.D. Booth for over 60 years. Danny was a member of the Elmira Elks Club, IAV, Fur, Fin and Feather Club and longtime member and past president of the Elmira Country Club. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1100 W. Church Street, Elmira, 10:00 a.m., on Friday, June 24, 2016. Interment to follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira. In lieu of flowers, donations in Danny's memory may be directed to either Woodbrook Assisted Living 1250 Maple Ave. 14904 or to CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Rd, Painted Post, NY 14870.
