Melvin D. Potson Age 88, formerly of Elmira, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Elcor Health Services. Melvin was born August 8, 1921, son of Albert and Anna (Baroski) Potson. He is predeceased by his infant daughters, Ann Marie and Mary Rose. Melvin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Kelinsky Potson; children, with their spouses, Gerald T. and Joanne Potson of Elmira, Linda M. and Nelson Sprague of Syracuse, NY, Jeanne M. and Kirk Ramme of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Megan Potson, with Almir Durmic, of Corning, Melanie and Dylan Schlott of NYC, Lyndsey Sprague of San Francisco, CA, Maxine and Samantha Ramme of Sarasota, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Michael Krenitsky of Simpson, PA; along with many nieces and nephews. Melvin was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Thatcher Glass with 40 years of service where he was a member, and officer, of Local 180 Glassblowers Association. An avid lake trout fisherman, Melvin was a legend on Keuka Lake. For the past 30 years Melvin and Jean would spend 6 months in Florida and 6 months on Keuka Lake. In following his wishes, private family services will be held, with his cremains being placed in the St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery Columbarium. The Potson Family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Reddy and the staff at Elcor Health Services - Maple Creek Gardens for the wonderful care given to Melvin over the past 9 months.
