Obituary of Marie Ginter Butcher

Elmira:  Age 68, passed away on September 6, 2023.  Marie was born and raised in Elmira, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Barbara (Watson) Ginter.  She is survived by her husband of 45 years Robert L. Butcher; children, with their families, Emily Butcher of Homestead FL with Clifford Georges and their children Lucas and Elise…Jonathon Butcher of Horseheads with Kaili Evans and their daughters, Kendall, Khloe and Kwinn; brothers, Paul Ginter of Elmira with Jennifer Savino and his daughter Morgan Ginter; William Ginter of Sunrise FL with wife Peggy and their children, Lee (Melanie) Ginter, with their son Eli, and Megan (Jerry) Stacy; sister Judy Ginter of Elmira with her son Bobby (Quinn) Godlewski; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sisi and Wayne Barr of Big Flats with their son Nathan; along with several cousins.

Marie attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School, was a 1972 graduate of Notre Dame High School and a graduate of Corning Community College.  She worked for various companies in the area….Elmira College and Howell Inc. in their administrative offices, and she also worked as a sales rep for various HVAC business’.  Marie enjoyed gardening and bird watching.  She was also an avid reader with crime detective being her favorite genre. Into her family genealogy, Marie traced her roots back to the 1800’s.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  A funeral service will follow at 5:15 p.m.
