Obituary of Suzanne B. Basal

Age 76, passed away peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Friday, August 25, 2017. Suzanne was born in Elmira, a daughter of the late Patrick and Marion (Rohel) Clate. She also had a sister Marilyn who predeceased her. Suzanne is survived by her loving husband of 51 years William C. Basal; sons and daughters-in-law, Deron and Juen Basal of Davenport FL with their children, Aniya and Aeric; son Erik Basal of Homer NY; son and daughter-in-law Brad and Kathrine Basal of Penfield NY; brother Patrick Clate; sister Karen Schumpp; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dr. John M. and Micki Basal; also surviving are nieces and nephews. Suzanne earned her Bachelor's Degree from Elmira College where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She went on to receive her Master's Degree from Clark University in Worcester MA. She had worked as a psychologist with the Elmira City School District. Suzanne enjoyed summers with the family at their home on Keuka Lake. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
