Obituary of Rachael O. Hart

Age 67, of Elmira, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family. Rachael was born in Waterbuy CT, a daughter of the late Romeo and Carolyn (Salerno) Orsatti. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Neil D. Hart; her sons, Christian C. Hart of Charlotte NC; John Bennett Hart of Queensbury NY, with his wife Jena and their sons, Casey and Tyler; sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Edward Carroll of Walpole MA; along with several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Rachael grew up in Waterbury, graduating from Waterbury Catholic High School. She continued her education at the College of New Rochelle where she earned her undergraduate degree, then went on to Elmira College where she earned her Master's Degree in Education. Rachael had a 20 year career as a teacher in the Corning Painted Post School District, where she had an incredible talent for teaching and nurturing her students. She taught at Northside Blodgett Middle School and both Corning Painted Post East and West High Schools. Rachael was beloved by both her students and fellow educators. She had a passion for living and touching people's lives by reaching out and helping them whenever they needed it. Rachael enjoyed gardening and cooking. Keeping close with her family was always most important to her. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and teacher, Rachael will be forever loved and missed. Water Street, Elmira, on Monday, May 8, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Rachael on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, 11:00 a.m., Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1100 W.
