Obituary of Robert B. Edwards

Age 68, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 24, 2017. Bob was born in Wellsboro PA, a son of the late Arland and Florence Crusoe Edwards. He was also predeceased by brother John Edwards and sisters, Patricia Hamlin and Arlene Edwards. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Karen Burdick Edwards; daughters, Ashley McGrane of Boston MA with husband Bryan and their daughter Madison, and Danielle Edwards of Canton MA with Brian Assessor; brother William Edwards of Idaho with Peter Anastos; brothers-in-law, Roger Hamlin of Michigan, Kevin Burdick of North Carolina and William Burdick of Syracuse; nieces and nephews, Arland Edwards, Amanda Hamlin, Eric (Mary) Hamlin, Todd and Brian (Tammie) Burdick; extended family Karen Burdick and April LaFontaine; several cousins and numerous friends. Bob is also survived by his faithful canine companions Gabbie and Sammy. Bob was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He earned both his undergraduate and Master's Degree from Elmira College. Bob was a beloved teacher at Beecher Elementary School for over 30 years, teaching every grade level from first to sixth. He was well known for his unique ways of getting through to his students and using his endless creativity to make learning fun. Bob was very artistic. In addition to playing and teaching guitar, he made jewelry and was a painter and woodworker. He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, and traveling with his family. He loved doing crossword puzzles and was an extremely competitive game player. Bob was a devoted husband to Karen and together they took great pride in the accomplishments of their beloved daughters.
