Obituary of Margaret A. Ryll

Margaret A. Ryll "Peggy" Elmira: Age 76, passed away very unexpectedly on October 21, 2012 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Peggy was born in Pittston PA on May 18, 1936, a daughter of the late Albert L. and Grace (Groux) Wierda. She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, William J. Ryll; daughter and son-in-law Christine M. and Earl Sowell of Horseheads; son William T. Ryll of Virginia; granddaughter Elizabeth (Joseph) Reed of Elmira Heights; great grandchildren, Landon and Kailyn; siblings, Sylvia Ripley, Edward (Dianne) Wierda, James C. (Sue) Wierda, Christopher (Jeanne) Wierda, John (Marlene) Wierda, and Mary Wierda; brother-in-law Bernard Ryll. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Peggy is predeceased by brother Thomas Wierda. Always someone who liked to keep busy, Peggy worked alongside her husband and brother-in-law Bernard Ryll for 40 years. The first 15 years with Dairy Queen on Lake Street in Elmira and the next 25 with Bookmarks on N. Main St. in Elmira. Peggy later worked at J.C. Penny's for nearly 10 years and was currently volunteering at the West Elmira Branch of the Steele Memorial Library. As much as she enjoyed working her primary focus was her family. She was devoted to her husband, and loved the time she could spend with her children, granddaughter and great grandchildren. Private services will be held. Donations in Peggy's memory may be directed to the Chemung County Library District, 1231 W. Water St., Elmira NY 14905 or the Chemung County S.P.C.A., Route 352, Elmira NY 14903.
