Obituary of Timothy T. Sullivan, Jr.

God finally said "Tim, you have suffered enough", and on Friday, March 4, 2016 Tim closed his eyes and took God's hand and went to meet his family members who precede him in death. His parents Timothy and Marjorie Landerhans Sullivan, siblings, Rev. John A. Sullivan and Marjorie Sullivan, and special nephew Patrick Ventimiglia who died in 2015. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 1/2 years Mary Byrne Sullivan, beloved son Kevin S. Sullivan; brother and sisters-in-law, Michael and Helen Sullivan of Las Vegas NV, Margaret Knop of Largo FL, Georgianna Byrne of St. Petersburg FL; three nephews and one dear niece; several great nieces and a great nephew; along with several loving cousins and special friends. Tim was a proud U S Air Force veteran serving four years of active duty during the Viet Nam War, attaining the rank of Captain. He received his Bachelor of Arts, English degree from St. John's University, continuing on to Xavier University where he earned his Master of Business Administration. His career in Human Resources took him to various jobs….Personnel Manager, Thatcher Glass; Assistant Employee Relations Manager, Domino Sugar; Personnel Director, City of Elmira; Director of Human Resources & Plant Services, Purolator Products; and finally Director of Human Resources, Trayer Products, from where he retired. Active in the Elmira Community Tim served on many local area board of directors…CSS Workforce NY, Trinity of Chemung County, Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Capabilities, ARC, the Corning, Watkins Glen Job Service Employer Committee and NYS JSEC. Tim was also a member of the Msgr. John J. Lee Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, March 11, 2016, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The recitation of the rosary, led by Deacon George Welch, will start at 4:15 p.m. Calling hours will then be held again from 7:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Tim on Saturday, March 12, 2016, 11:00 a.m., Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Military Honors will be accorded outside of the church immediately following the Mass. Interment will take place at St. Francis DeSalles Cemetery, Phoenicia NY. Those wishing may remember Tim with a donation to either, the Elmira Community Kitchen, 160 High Street, Elmira NY 14901 or the Twin Tiers Honor Flight, 2735 Slaterville Road, Brooktondale NY 14817. Officers and members of the A.O.H. will meet at McInerny Funeral Home on Friday, March 11th at 7:00 p.m. to conduct a service for our brother Tim. Signed, Tim Tobin, President.
