Obituary of Mary Lou Tremaine

Mary Lou Tremaine Horseheads: Age 85, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012, with her family by her side, after an extended illness. Mary Lou was born August 18, 1927 in Corning a daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Murphy) Sutton. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years Robert F. Tremaine, infant sons, Robert Samuel and John Raymond, daughter Mary Elizabeth, brother Francis Sutton, sister Marjorie Murphy, daughter-in-law Barbara Tremaine. Mary Lou is survived by her loving children, and their spouses, Carol and John Layton, Carl Tremaine, William Tremaine, Thomas and Patricia Tremaine, Gery and Michelle Tremaine, Kevin and Suzie Tremaine, Susan and Patrick Freeland, Marjorie Tremaine, Robert Tremaine, Bridgette Tremaine, Jayne and Michael D'Aloisio, Amy and Lance Lacorazza, Brian Tremaine and Elizabeth Tremaine; 24 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and her first great great granddaughter, all whom she loved and cherished. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary Lou was a 1946 graduate of Corning Free Academy. She was employed by Corning Glass Works for a brief period until her marriage to Robert in 1946. Mary Lou enjoyed playing the piano and listening to music….especially the "good music" of the 1940's and 1950"s. Deeply devout to her Catholic faith she was a former parishioner, and member of the Rosary and Altar Society, at St. Mary's Church, Corning, currently a member of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads. Mary Lou truly enjoyed her life, her passion and joy was her family and faith. She never wavered in her beliefs and always found the good in others, and loved to cook a meal for anyone who walked in the door. Mary Lou wished that everyone pray, have faith, find the good in all and smile. She was an inspiration to others and many looked to her for guidance and help. Services will be held at the church she most loved, where she received all her sacraments, St. Mary's Church, Corning, 155 State Street. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 noon. Interment, with committal prayers will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning. Family members request that when thinking of their mom, please listen to "good music", her favorite being "Smile" by Nat King Cole, or light a holy candle in her memory. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mauri, Stephanie and staff, and the staff of 3b at Arnot Ogden Medical Center for their caring, kindness and compassion. Also a special thank you to good friends, and neighbors, Barry and Jo'an Sawester for their love and generosity that was always shown to our mother.
