Obituary of Lois J. Hyde

Elmira: Age 68 passed away Monday, January 20, 2015. Lois was born April 17, 1946, in Elmira, the daughter of the late Roy E. and Wilma (Sawdey) Robinson. She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years J. Russell Hyde; sister Joan Hollenbeck of Horseheads; brother Tom Robinson of Corning; niece Jill Hollenbeck of Horseheads, with her son Andrew; and numerous cousins. Lois was a graduate of Southside High School. She then went on to attend and graduate from the Arnot Ogden School of Nursing. Upon graduation Lois continued on with the Arnot and had a 30 year nursing career. After her retirement she worked part time as a nurse for seven years in various school health offices with the Elmira City School District. Lois was a life-long member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She and Russ enjoyed fishing and traveling, especially to the Adirondack's and Florida. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary's Church, Elmira on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. with Fr. Robert MacNamara and her pastor, Rev. Gail Wilson conducting the service. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Lois with a donation to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira NY 14905, or to a charity of one's choice.
