Obituary of Stephen T Popovich

Elmira: Age 83, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Stephen was born August 23, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre PA the son of Michael and Julia (Comstock) Popovich. He is predeceased by seven siblings. Stephen is survived by his wife of 52 years Angeline Baccile Popovich; sister Helen Paslousky of New Brunswick NJ; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Stephen served in the U S Coast Guard from 1951 - 1954. He was a graduate of Mansfield State Teachers College where he was President of Kappa Delta Pi Fraternity. Stephen taught in Elmira for two years before moving to Hillsborough NJ where he was a Math Teacher at Hillsborough High School for 28 years. Stephen was an avid photographer for many years. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Stephen's Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir's Church. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
