Obituary of Robert J. McDonell

Age 86, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. Mick was born in Elmira NY on January 29, 1928 the son of Robert J. Sr. and Mary Grady McDonell. He is survived by his children, Robert Michael McDonell of Elmira; Nora Elizabeth McDonell of Elmira and her children, Katie, Miriam, Abdulaziz and Ibrahim; Timothy Richard McDonell of Elgin SC with wife Tami and daughter Taryn; 4 great grandchildren; special friend Karen Coleman of Elmira. Mick was a U S Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a mold maker with Thatcher Glass for nearly 30 years. Mick was a die-hard New York Yankee fan. He was extremely proud to have been a Small Fry Football coach for Ernie Davis. Mick was a long time member of the Elmira Elks Club and the American Legion. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Elmira, on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Donations in Mick's memory may be directed to Elmira Small Fry, P O Box 975, Elmira NY 14902.
