Obituary of Philomean Saracene

Age 89, passed away very unexpectedly on Monday, October 27, 2014. Phil was born December 18, 1924, in Elmira, a daughter of Nicholas and Theresa (Fillipone) Mucci. She is predeceased by her sister Mary Capozza and brother James Mucci. Phil is survived by her loving husband Thomas L. Saracene, with whom she recently celebrated 68 years of marriage; son and daughter-in-law Stephen L. and Lizbeth "Betsy" Saracene of Penfield NY with their children, Todd Nash, Stacey and Lauren Saracene; daughter and son-in-law Nancy A. and Craig Heffner of Horseheads with children, Scott Heffner, and Stephanie (Michael) Vormwald; brother and sister-in-law John and Shirley Mucci of Elmira; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Anna Mae and Michael Cerio of Elmira; along with several nieces and nephews. Phil was a long time communicant of St. Patrick's Church where she was a member of Sacred Heart Ladies. There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to Phil's Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Elmira. Interment with committal prayers will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Phil with a donation to Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1010 Davis Street, Elmira NY 14901, or to a charity of one's choice.
