Obituary of Donna Marie Kole

Age 73, of Elmira, passed away at her home on Friday, March 28, 2014. She was born in Elmira on March 5, 1941 to the late S. Bernard "Dutch" and Mary Loretta (Devine) Kole. Donna is predeceased by her brother Michael E. Kole. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bernard P. and Judith Layton Kole of Beaufort SC; nieces, Katherine Kole Thompson and husband Aaron with their daughters Sidney and Lydia all of Bel Air MD, Julie Kole and husband Steve Baughman of San Francisco CA; cousin Marilyn Kole Sbedico of Elmira. Also surviving is a circle of close friends who were very important in Donna's life. Donna earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Elmira College. Following college, Donna went on to be a third grade teacher at George Washington School for 30 years. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Donna was also active in the community volunteering her time with different organizations. She enjoyed shopping, good food and wine, gardening, and animals. Donna enjoyed traveling with her friends, especially when the trips were by the water. A dedicated teacher and caring person, Donna will be missed by her friends and family. A celebration of Donna's life will be held by her friends at a later date.
