Obituary of Rose D. Donahue

Age 91, of Elmira passed away on March 7, 2014. Rose was born on August 9, 1922. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Flanagan Donahue, her parents, Angelo and Marie DeRisio, and her brother, Robert DeRisio. She is survived by her two brothers Dr. Vincent (Doris) DeRisio, Richard (Megan) DeRisio, sister in law, Patricia DeRisio, and her loving and devoted nephew David (Shelley) MacFeiggan. Throughout her life, there were many friends who were especially dear to Rose including Merilou Effinger, Joan Gray, Mary Lou Thurber, Kathy Tucker and Brian Fitzgerald. Rose was actively involved with community organizations including the Arnot Art Museum, Chemung County Historical Society, Elmira Chapter 276 of the AARP, the Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of Lourdes church, Friends of the Steele Memorial Library, and the Clemens Center. For many years Rose was a golfing member of the Elmira Country Club and a frequent participant in golf tournaments with her late husband, Ed. Rose and Ed also enjoyed global travel. Rose graduated from Elmira College in 1944 with a B.A. degree. During her long career at IBM Owego, she was recognized as a frequent contributor of ideas for improvements in quality and efficiency. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The burial will be a private family gathering. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may make a donation to the Arnot Art Museum, 235 Lake Street, Elmira, NY 14901, or the Chemung County Historical Society, 415 E. Water Street, Elmira, NY 14901.
