Obituary of Joseph J. Bannon

Elmira: Age 75, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013. Joe was born in Wallkill NY January 10, 1938, son of the late John J. and Marie (Votrey) Bannon. He is also predeceased by his son Joseph M. Bannon and sister Rita Ansett. Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years Jacquelyn Foody Bannon; son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Tracy Bannon, Watkins Glen, with their sons, Patrick and R.J.; granddaughter Karly Bannon, Elmira, with her mother Julie Bannon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Wayne Sowers, Elmira, Mary and Merle Baylor, Florida; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Gladys Bannon, Horseheads; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Maureen and Dennis McKernan, Pine City; Michael Foody, Elmira; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He had been the owner of Kings Dairy on the Southside for many years. Joe also worked as a painter for Bottcher Painting. He was an avid Bingo player. Friends are invited to Joe's service on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
