Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elmira Heights: Mary Lou was brave and steadfast in her fight against the unforgiving cancer living within her. Although she won a few battles, she lost the war on Sunday, July 14, 2013. She is now at peace in our heavenly kingdom, greeted by those whom have left us before her…parents, Louise (Dodson) and Dominic J. Palmieri, Sr., daughter Theresa Mowry and brother Dominic J. Palmieri, Jr. Behind, Mary Lou leaves husband Richard K. Mowry, Sr.,; children, Laura L. Lagonegro, and her husband Andy; Richard K. Mowry, Jr. with Eva Gabriel; Joseph L. Mowry and wife Paula; Marion E. Mowry with Sandra Sayre; step-mother Marion E. Palmieri, all of Elmira; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother Peter Palmieri, California; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and grand-dog Lubell. Mary Lou was a thoughtful, loving human being all of her 71 plus years on this earth. She worked for the Elmira City School District for over 30 years in the cafeterias at both Broadway and George Washington Elementary Schools, retiring as Food Service Manager. The thing she treasured most was her family. Mary Lou was loved dearly and will be missed every minute of every hour of every day until we meet again. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
