Elmira: Age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Elderwood in Waverly. Helen was born in Waverly NY on December 2, 1923, a daughter of Helen (Creighton) and Lawrence Coon. She is predeceased by her husband Mario DePrimo, son Lawrence DePrimo, brother Floyd Coon, sisters, Phyllis Butters and Thelma Baldwin. Helen is survived by her children, with their families, Diana L. and Richard Ross, Florida, and children, Steven Smith and Deborah Perkins; Mark S. and Judy DePrimo, Elmira, and son Anthony; Michael J. and Pam DePrimo, Elmira and children Ashley and Jonathon; along with several nieces and nephews. Helen lived on Cedar St. in Southport for 45 years. Her family was the most important part of her life. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. Private interment will take place in Woodlawn National Cemetery. Helen's family extends a special thank you to the staff at Woodbrook in Southport for the care they provided to her for 4 ½ years and to the staff at North Unit - Memory Care at Elderwood in Waverly for the wonderful care Helen received for the last 15 months. Donations in Helen's memory may be directed to either, Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester NY 14620 or Care First, 11751 East Corning Road, Corning NY 14830.
