Obituary of John A. Wasek

John A. Wasek Age 91, of West Elmira, passed away peacefully, January 22, 2010, at his daughter Jeanne Bohomey's home, where he had been under the loving and devoted care of Jeanne and her children, Brian and Kathleen. John was born May 13, 1918, son of Anthony and Fannie Wasek. He was predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years Catherine Copie Wasek. John is also predeceased by his dear daughter Kathleen Wasek Widman, precious grandson Paul Edward Widman, brother Nicholas Wasek, sisters, Katie Skebey, Ann Cernohorsky and Mary Schmidt. He is survived by his daughter Jeanne W. Bohomey of West Elmira; son Robert (Vicki) Wasek of Allentown; daughter Sharon Bernard of Delaware; son-in-law Jack Widman of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Brian and Kathleen Bohomey, Kathryn and Carolyn Widman, Stephanie, Michael, Kevin and Emily Wasek; brother-in-law Robert Skebey and nephew Tom Skebey of Horseheads; nieces, Frances Bluhm of Elmira and Darlene Thompson of Virginia. John was a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren, and took great pride in their accomplishments. They, in turn, loved and cherished him. Private services were held on January 25, 2010 at McInerny Funeral Home, officiated by Father Walter Wainwright of St. Patrick's Church. John was laid to rest next to his beloved wife Catherine in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads.
