Christopher William Mahoney

Chris passed away at Guthrie Hospital in Sayre, PA Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Chris is predeceased by his sister Suzanne Walsh, and father Edward Mahoney, Sr. He is survived by his mother Gail Wilson Mahoney, and siblings: Edward (Marybeth) Mahoney, Jr., Noreen (Bill) Joyce, Mary J. Mahoney, and brother-in-law Bill Walsh; his adored nieces and nephews: Nicole (Paul) Girgenti, Jacquelyn (Sean Carroll) Walsh, Kevin (Melissa David) Mahoney, Conor (Hannah) Mahoney, William (Brittany) Joyce Jr., Erin (Jordyn Holt) Joyce, and Mercedes Mahoney; and his adorable grand nephews and niece: Declan Girgenti, Rocco Girgenti, Owen Carroll, Aidan Carroll, and Gianna Joyce.

Chris was born in Brooklyn and grew up on Long Island where he was a builder of tree houses, a skateboarding teen and a surfing enthusiast. He held a master’s degree in Furniture Design from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and worked for many years at Yale University for their School of Architecture. He was the co-founder and co-principal of a design and architecture firm -- ELEV Workshop (New York; Beijing) with Na Wei. He was a talented designer, an avid musician, skilled cook, and cat dad (most recently, dad to Callie and Ollie).
