Age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Elcor Health Services.  Richard was born in Hackensack NJ, a son of Charles and Mary Williams Ackley.  He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Herbert and Yolonda Ackley.  Richard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Lou Crissinger Ackley.  He is also survived by sons, Kevin and Brian Ackley; daughter Sharon Ackley with her children Fletcher (Rachel Berg-Peris) Peris, Lucas, Charles and Reagan Peris; several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Richard had a rewarding 41-year career as a mechanic at Elm Chevy in downtown Elmira.  He was a devout Catholic who was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a current communicant of The Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish.   Richard enjoyed working in his yard and was very proud of his lawn.  He loved the pets the family had over the years.  Most importantly he was a family man devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. 

Private family services were held.
