Obituary of Sandra Fisher
Sandra Fisher (née Brescia), age 96, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, in Elmira, New York.
Born on June 7, 1928, in Monopoli, Italy, Sandra immigrated to the United States with her family in 1929 and was raised in Syracuse, New York. She graduated from North High School and pursued further education through college coursework. She became a certified X-ray technician and later expanded her professional life to include work in finance and bookkeeping. Her career reflected her versatility and dedication to precision and service.
Sandra was a woman of strong convictions and unwavering faith. A lifelong Catholic, she was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Elmira, where her spiritual life remained an important foundation throughout the years. Her determined spirit and direct manner were well known among those who knew her best. She held firm to her conservative values and approached life with clarity and purpose.
Social by nature, Sandra found joy in hosting dinner parties that brought people together around good food and conversation. She enjoyed the morning coffee gatherings at Colony Park and the many friends she made there. She also enjoyed the quiet satisfaction of solving puzzles—an activity that mirrored her thoughtful and methodical approach to life.
Sandra was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Fisher; her parents, Anthony and Carmela Brescia; her sisters Connie Brescia and Carmen Fusco; and her brother Joseph A. Brescia.
She is survived by her sister Rita Sartori and brother-in-law Joseph E. Sartori, Jr.; nephews Joseph Sartori III (Melinda), Paul Sartori, David Sartori (Denise), Stephen Fusco (Betsy) and Joseph Jay Brescia (Amy); nieces Barbara Grau (Robert), Ann Brazinski (Scott), and Linda Waldbaum (Brian); as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Elmira at a date and time to be announced.
