
Obituary of Vincent B. A'Brunzo
Elmira: Age 89, born in Elmira, son of James and Nicolena (Yalenti) A'Brunzo, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, peacefully, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He is predeceased by his siblings, John (Genevieve), Philip (Herma), Louis (Betty), Anthony, and Rosemarie (John) Palma, and grandson PJ Wagner. Vinnie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Sally E. Farran A’Brunzo; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Charlie Sterpe of Lowman NY; son Vincent J. A’Brunzo of Elmira with Donna Craven; grandchildren, Victoria (Eric) Roberts, Haili Craven, Mara, Thomas and Matthew Bailey, several nieces and nephews.
Vinnie served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958. He retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility as a senior storeroom clerk. Vinnie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and NY Giants fan. He was also known as the mayor of Grove Street. Vinnie loved meeting his 8:00 a.m. coffee club buddies at McDonald’s and loved talking to the staff at Weis Market. Vinnie was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. Everyone who knew Vinnie knew he was a very social person. He enjoyed the camaraderie he had with his friends and loved spending time with the family he cherished.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira, on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will then take place at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
