Obituary of Donna L Sheehan (née Collins)

Donna Sheehan (née Collins), a lifelong resident of Elmira, New York, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on February 17, 1947, in Elmira, Donna dedicated much of her life to public service. She retired as Postmaster of the Millport Post Office after many years of faithful service with the United States Postal Service. Even in retirement, she continued to connect with her community through her work at Palmer’s Hallmark in Elmira Heights, where her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression. Donna is survived by her loving sons, Brian M. O’Buckley (Diane) of Elmira Heights, New York and Shawn O’Buckley (Nellie) of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Rianna Scott, Brandon Micha O’Buckley, Molly Rose O’Buckley, Emma O’Buckley; and her great-granddaughter, Rhema Scott. Donna is also survived by her loving companion, John Ervin. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Lucy Collins; siblings, Robert Collins and Maureen Palmer; niece Karen Palmer; and beloved granddaughter, Anjelika Colleen O’Buckley. Calling hours will be held at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Interment to follow at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Donna will be remembered for her quiet strength, her lifelong dedication to others, and the deep love she held for her family.
