
Obituary of Arthur N. Paul
Age 92, of Elmira Heights, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Cicero NY. Art was the son of Clarence J. and Pearl Green Paul. He was predeceased by his wife Agnes Canali Paul; brothers, Ralph, Robert, Arnold and Donald Paul; sisters, Shirley Paul and Helen Bailey; son-in-law James Menechella. Art is survived by daughters, Barbara A. Thayer (Edward) of Cicero NY, Helen J. Menechella of Elmira Heights and Kathryn Paul of Valbonne France; grandsons, James Menechella (Meghan), Brian Menechella, Sebastien Paul-Bourut (Maeva) and Nicholas Bourut; great grandsons Jameson Menechella and Nolan Paul-Bourut; sister Phyllis McKlevis (Tony); sister-in-law Maryanne Eichenlaub (with Jim Cleary); nephews, Michael and John Eichenlaub; godson, Scott McKlevis; several other several nieces and nephews.
Art was born in Elmira and grew up in Van Etten NY. After graduating from Van Etten High School, Art enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving from 1950 to 1953. After his discharge from the Navy and while working at Remington Rand, Art met Agnes, who would become his wife and spend 66 years with before her death in 2016. He worked at several companies over the years before retiring from Bendix/Facet in Elmira Heights. Art was always a good athlete. He was an avid golfer and in his earlier years he was an outstanding baseball player. His bowling prowess was good enough to where he was elected to the Elmira Sports Hall of Fame. He bowled numerous 700 series, and his highest game was a 299. Art was a member of the Catholic War Vets and the Elmira Heights Masons for many years.
Family and friends are invited to call at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Committal prayers and interment, with military honors will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
