Obituary of Rosa A. Ocampo

Please share a memory of Rosa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elmira:  With heavy hearts, the family of Rosa Ocampo of Pampanga, Philippines, announces her unexpected passing at the age of 80.  She passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Rosa was a woman of warmth, generosity, and boundless love.  She found joy in the simple things – cooking delicious meals that brought her family together, singing her heart out in karaoke, and dancing with a spirit that never faded.  But above all, she loved her family and grandchildren more than anything, always putting their happiness before her own.

Her sharp wit and lively sense of humor made every moment with her unforgettable.  She was the heart of every gathering, bringing love, joy, and endless fun to those around her.  Those who knew her loved teasing her, just to see the funny expressions she’d make – whether it was a playful scowl or a quick-witted comeback, she always had a way of making everyone laugh.

Even at 80, she had an incredible work ethic.  She always needed to stay busy – whether it be working, helping others, or finding ways to provide for her family.  If you ever visited a local berry farm or a commissary on base, you may have seen her happily picking blueberries or bagging groceries, always taking pride in doing honest work and contributing in any way she could.  She found purpose in everything she did and gave her all – to her family, her work, and the life she loved.

Rosa was preceded in death by her four siblings and son-in-law, Phil.  She is survived by her brother, Domeng; her children, Maria Erway (Phil), Jun Castillo (Ella), Rodolfo Castillo, Rosalie Ocampo (Richard), and Bernie Ocampo (Rhea).  She was a beloved grandmother to Shawn Erway, Scott Erway (Abby, and great-granddaughter Amelia), Melissa Taylor (Christian), Fraize O’Hallahan, Stanley Castillo, and Lance Castillo, as well as many cherished grandchildren in the Philippines.  She also leaves behind the Henson Family and the Erway family, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Her kindness, selflessness, and joyful spirit will forever be cherished.  Though she is no longer with us, the love and laughter she shared will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
