Obituary of Lena M. Tobin

Lena M. Tobin Age 87, of Elmira and formerly of District Heights MD, passed away at the Chemung County Nursing Facility on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Lena and her husband Richard E. Tobin, who predeceased her in 1983 raised four sons and a daughter. They include son Richard J. Tobin of Washington D.C. with his wife Ronnie and son Tim; son Robert M. Tobin who predeceased her in 2008 and his wife Kathy of Annapolis MD and their children Robert and Kim; daughter Kathy E. Fontana with her husband Gabe and children Karen, Gary (Yumiko), Angela (Dennis) and Anthony; son Ronald D. Tobin with daughters Heather and Katie; son Timothy J. Tobin of Elmira with wife Maggie and their children, Michael, Maria and Erin. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren. Lena raised her family in Maryland and moved to Elmira in 1996. While in Elmira she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Lena enjoyed bingo and shopping. She was an avid gardener and could grow anything. Lena also had a great love of dogs. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her grandchildren. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets, on Monday, August 16, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Clinton MD. Burial will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Cheltenham MD. Donations in Lena's memory may be directed to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA, Route 352, Elmira NY 14903.
