Obituary of Pasquale F. F. Scopelliti
Age 75, passed way on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at home with his loving wife by his side. Pat was born in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Frank and Lucia Chindemi Scopelliti. He was survived by his loving wife of 21 years Carolyn Haas Scopelliti of Big Flats NY; step-son Anthony Lichtmann of Elmira; aunt Josephine; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard Haas, Walter and Lora Haas, Barbara and Richard Margolius, Paul and Elizabeth Haas and Don Haas; many nieces, nephews (some Honorary) and cousins on two continents.
Pat attended catholic schools in Brooklyn. When the family moved to Long Island NY, thirteen-year-old Pat began commuting to high school on the Long Island Railroad. He loved the trains. Sometimes he commuted with Frank Mannerino, they have been close friends a little less than forever. Pat attened Manhattan College at the age of 16 and then attended grad school at St. Bonaventure University earning his Masters Degree and designed the first computer science curriculum offered there. He advanced his career by taking a position at Corning Inc., where he built the company's first website. Later he worked at Xerox, Atos, and Verizon.
Throughout his life, he had many hobbies and participated in many sports; hockey, softball, basketball, skiing and autocross. He was always an enthusiastic volunteer in the many groups he was a part of. Pat was a train enthusiast, enjoying reading, building model trains and being a part of multiple railroad groups in Chemung County.
Pat became a family man late in life. He was an excellent husband who did most of the cooking and shopping, even when he was working. He took care of Carolyn in every way he could. Pat made many friends and long lasting relationships and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Pat made the world a better place, and it will not be the same without him.
