Obituary of Carol Ellen Bucy Tapia
Carol Ellen Bucy Tapia passed away on December 27, 2024, after a brief illness.
Born in Elmira to Bill and Betty Bucy, Carol loved her hometown and lived her whole life there. A member of the Elmira Free Academy class of 1969, she went on to manage offices- particular favorites being Medical Data Management in Elmira and Buttermilk Falls Pediatrics in Ithaca. She had an unerring eye for beauty and so much style- antiques, dolls and their houses, the cottage, her incredible home, cool clothes, fast cars and all the gorgeous pets she loved over the years.
Carol is survived by her daughter Lindsay Colegrove Hager (Andrew) of Burdett, New York, adored sisters, Maxine Masia (Peter) of Himrod, New York and Virginia Lockrem (John) of Green Valley, Arizona, niece Stacy DeBell Stowell of Green Valley, Arizona, grandnephew McAllister Stowell (Eli) of Queens, New York and grandniece Branaugh Stowell of Arizona; her husband of 25 years Luis Tapia, her sweet cat Harry, and many cousins and dear friends. We know she is at peace and reunited with everyone she loved and missed dearly- especially her beloved baby granddaughter Anna Elizabeth, her parents and her grandparents.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday January 2, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment, with committal prayers, will then take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1200 Walnut Street, Elmira NY.
In lieu of flowers, Carol would want you to donate, in her memory, to the charity of your choice.
Her family would like to extend our appreciation to those who cared for her at Arnot Ogden Medical Center - she felt as though she’d made some new friends and that was a lovely end.
