Obituary of John R. Sincock, Jr.

Elmira:  Age 89, passed away at the Bath VA Medical Center on Saturday, November 23, 2024.  Jack was born in Cortland NY a son of John R. and Marie (Bialy) Sincock.  He is predeceased by his granddaughter Elexus Marie Sincock and partner of many years Rowena Campbell.  Jack is survived by his children and their families:  Michael and Sharri Sincock of Pine City with children, Elizabeth D’Aloisio (Nick), John Michael, Jason, and Ashlee…..Daniel and Ann Sincock of Big Flats with children, Mackenzie (Lexi) and Danielle…..James and Michella Sincock of Elmira, with children, Perri, Brayden and Paytn…..Ann and Bernie Senger of New Jersey with sons, Bernard, Ryan, and Alex…great grandchildren, Stella, Noah and Isla D’Aloisio; brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Sally Sincock of Ithaca; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Gerald Messolella of Rochester; former wife, and mother of their children, Mary M. Kienzle Sincock; along with several nieces and nephews.

 

Jack was a 1954 graduate of Elmira Free Academy.  He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1958 – 1959.  Jack was an Elmira fireman from 1967 until his retirement in 1995.  In addition to working for the fire department, he also operated Nuisance Wildlife Control from 1986 – 2022.  An avid outdoorsman and conservationist, Jack was a hunter, trapper and fisherman.  He also enjoyed watching sports with the Buffalo Bills and University of North Carolina basketball being his favorite teams. 

 

Not one to really retire, Jack was very active in local and not so local organizations where he received many awards and honors.  Those organizations include Fur, Fin and Feather, Chemung County Federation of Sportsmen, Trout Unlimited, Whitetails Unlimited, Ruffed Grouse Society, Chemung County Farm Bureau, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Maine Alliance of Sportsman, National Trappers Association, Fur Takers of America, NYS Conservation Council, National Wild Turkey Federation and the White Eagles Club.

 

Calling hours for Jack will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.   A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic).  Interment with committal prayers and military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
