Obituary of Suzanne Kelly Henderson

Age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.  Suzanne was born in Elmira, a daughter of the late John B. and Margaret Sheahan Kelly.  In addition to her parents Suzanne was predeceased by her brother Daniel Kelly.  She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Theodore C. and Elizabeth Henderson of Francistown NH and Timothy D. Henderson of Elmira; daughter and son-in-law Carrie E. and Christopher Oakley of Elmira; brothers and sister-in-law, John B. and Lisa Kelly of Delaware and James Kelly of Colorado; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Gary Earley of Elmira and Katherine “Katie” Kelly of Elmira; sister-in-law Sandi Kelly of Boulder CO; grandchildren, Hannah (Josh) Nadeau, Emma Henderson, Meghan, Collin and Kiersten Oakley; several nieces, nephews and good friends.

 

Suzanne was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary’s Grammar School and a 1962 graduate of Southside High School. She was an artistic person and lifelong watercolor artist.  Suzanne had also been a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church.  After raising her three children, Suzanne went to work as a secretary with the Elmira City School District from where she retired.  Her grandchildren were a special part of her life, and she enjoyed all the times spent with them.

 

There will be no calling hours.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Suzanne on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira.  Private burial will follow at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery.
