Kathy was a 1976 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. She attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Kathy was the CEO of Carbonic Systems Inc., a multi-generational family business started by her grandfather, which grew into a successful and lucrative business under her strong leadership.
Kathy once loved time spent on Keuka Lake, where her parents had bought a cottage. She continued the family tradition of spending time in the summer months there, hosting friends and family to enjoy the beauty and fun of the lake. Summers at Keuka Lake were filled with joy, laughter, and memories that will be treasured by all who were a part of them.
She also had a passion for traveling to the Caribbean, where she loved island hopping, exploring new coral reefs to snorkel on, and embracing the beauty and culture of the Caribbean people. The vibrant waters and spirit of the islands were her source of joy and peace.
Kathy was also known for her extraordinary talent in the kitchen. She had a passion for cooking and loved to entertain, always inviting family and friends to her home. Those lucky enough to try her food knew what an incredible cook she was, and she ensured that there was always plenty to go around, bringing everyone together with her delicious meals.
But above all, Kathy’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. Their happiness meant everything to her and seeing them smile brought her the most joy. She would do anything for them, and her love for them was boundless, as she was their “Nanny”.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on October 26, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. for a funeral service. A celebration of her life will follow at Tanino's, 1 Old Ithaca Road, off Hanover Square, Horseheads.
Life is not over; it has only changed as she has entered into eternal life. We will miss her dearly and always hold her close to our hearts; until we meet again.
