Obituary of Angela M. Piersimoni

Age 88 passed away peacefully at Bethany Manor on Monday, September 9, 2024.  Angela was born in Bradford PA, daughter of the late Patsy and Angeline (Naples) Camarco.  She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Joseph T. Piersimoni, and her grandson Joseph Scott Piersimoni.  Angela is survived by her children and their spouses, Eric J. and Lisa Piersimoni of Venice FL; Sue Ellen Codding of McComb MS, Bart A. and Suzanne Piersimoni of Elmira NY, Mark D. and Catherine Piersimoni of Mount Juliet TN, and Thea J.  Sobkowski of Painted Post NY with fiancé Alan Perry; sister Lucille Allen of Montgomery AL; sister-in-law Joyce Schaming of Bradford PA; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren. 

Angela was born and raised in Bradford PA and that is where she and Joe met.  While raising their family, Angela and Joe lived in a variety of places before settling in Big Flats NY.   While living for two decades in Franklin PA she was a member of Franklin’s Women’s Club and worked for Franklin Hospital.  After moving to Big Flats, Angela had a long career working mostly in the medical field with scheduling, and as a transcriptionist.   She worked in various positions at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira from where she retired.  She was a volunteer for several health care organizations including Bone Builders, Parkinson’s Association, and Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association.  Her hobbies included gardening, baking, sewing and bird watching.  Angela was a devout Catholic, a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church and a member of the Ladies of Charity.  Active in her community, she was a longtime member of the Big Flats Planning Board.  Family was extremely important for Angela.  She was an advocate and supporter in her grandchildren’s lives.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, NY on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad Street, Horseheads NY on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.   Burial will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Bradford PA.  Those who wish may remember Angela with a donation to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association at cmtausa.org.
