Obituary of Casey C. Barnes

Casey C. Barnes Age 55, of Elmira Heights, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer. Casey was born in Olean NY and was a lifelong resident of New York State. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Patricia Barnes and brothers, Michael and Mark Barnes. Casey is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen Cicora Barnes; son Anthony "Tony" Barnes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Karen Barnes, Richard and Kristine Barnes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shaun and Marv Rearick, Gail and Mike Wantuck; sisters, Shannon, Meghan and Tobi; also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. He retired in January 2010 from the County of Chemung with over 20 years of service. Casey's heart was with his family and wrestling. He was an accomplished wrestler while attending Elmira Free Academy. He coached a private youth wrestling club, "Casey's Club", for 10 plus years. This program became one of the most elite wrestling programs in the area. Several of his wrestlers starred in high school and college. Casey refereed high school and college wrestling for 13 plus years and was widely respected as one of the top New York State officials. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 12:00 noon at St. Patrick's Church, Elmira. Donations in Casey's memory may be directed to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Ave., Elmira NY 14905.
