Obituary of Joseph Patrick Kelly

Joseph Patrick Kelly Age 51, of Belmont, NC, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Joe was born August 20, 1959, in Elmira, a son of Dr. William M. Kelly, of Elmira, and the late Mary Hogan Kelly. He is also predeceased by his brother Paul Gerard Kelly. In addition to his dad Joe is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, JoEllen Cusick Kelly; beloved children, Shannon, of Tampa, FL, Michael and Will, of Belmont; siblings, and their spouses, Dr. Michael W. and Sandra Kelly of Greenville, SC, William J. and Patricia Kelly of Elmira, Mary K. Baker of Elmira, Thomas M. and Sharon Kelly of Wooster, OH, Martha K. and Joseph Salata of Shaker Heights, OH, Robert M. and Patricia Kelly of Elmira; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Cusick of Elmira, Ed and Diane Banks of Beltsville, MD; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Elmira and Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC. A valued employee of Wal-Mart, Joe's career took him to various parts of the country. In June of 2009, he left his long-time home, and DC (distribution center), in Marcy, NY, accepting the General Manager position at DC 6070 in Shelby, NC. Joe joined Walmart in October of 1992, training at DC 6016 in New Braunfels, TX before moving to Woodland, PA as part of the start-up team for DC 6027. Joe then joined the New York start-up team as the Orderfilling Operations Manager at DC 6038 where he was promoted to Assistant General Manager and ultimately General Manager. Remembering his New York roots and Irish heritage, Joe was an avid NY Yankee fan and member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Joe was a life member of the Friends of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, NY. A wonderful and loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle, Joe will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to an Education Fund for Will Kelly, c/o Dave Cornell, Merrill Lynch, 102 Business Park Drive, Utica, NY 13502. Officers and members of the Msgr. John J. Lee Division of the AOH, will gather at McInerny Funeral Home, Sunday, October 3rd, at 5:45 p.m. to conduct a service for our brother Joe. Signed, Tom Corcoran, President
