Obituary of Ronald G. Hess

Age 68 - of Elmira, NY passed away unexpectedly on January 28, 2023, in Southport, NY. Ron was born in Elmira, NY to Stanley M. and Dora R. Hess on April 12, 1954. Ron was the oldest of his three siblings and was raised on a 200-acre farm on Coleman Avenue in Elmira, NY. The Hess family had a variety of animals and a large garden; therefore, Ron was very active and loved drama. He went to Elmira Free Academy majoring in industrial arts and graduated in 1972. He was an avid wrestler and was known as Captain to his teammates and friends. Ron loved the outdoors and later went on to own and operate Bandana Tree Service for many years. Ron truly enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as anything to do with an engine that could go fast. He was also a lifelong motorcycle rider and enthusiast. Ron is survived by his only daughter, Crystal Newman (John) and his grandson, Jacob Newman of Lancaster, NY. Ron is also survived by his sisters, Linda Hart (Joe) of Los Angeles, CA and Pamela Miller of Millerton, PA. Ron is also survived by his niece and nephews, Amanda and Justin Hess of Schenectady, NY, Hudson and Spencer Hart of Los Angeles, CA, and Keith and Max Miller of Millerton, PA. Ron was predeceased by his loving parents, Stanley and Dora Hess and his only brother, Robert Hess of Elmira NY. He is also predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Pearl, and Melvin Hess of Sabinsville, PA and his maternal grandparents, Murray and Martha Rinebold of Elmira, NY.
