Obituary of Richard Edward Rollins

Elmira: Age 68, passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Rich was born and raised in Elmira a son of Clarence E. Black and Rosa Nell Rollins. He is predeceased by his parents and grandparents Clarence E., Sr. and Stella Toledo Black. Rich is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann Teeter Rollins; daughter and son-in-law Larissa and Mike Singleton of Elmira with their children, Justen, Shaq and Savon; great-grandchildren, Zhavier and Jhamairah; sister Aletha Rollins of Elmira, with Mike Plaisted; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Michele Osburn of Elmira, Marie and Robert Dickinson of Wayland NY, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and especially his GETA family. Rich was a life-long resident of Elmira. He graduated from Notre Dame High School, Class of 1972 and attended Corning Community College. He recently retired from a Customer Service position in the Emergency Department at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He continued to enjoy time with his wife traveling and becoming beloved by the New York State Emergency Nurses Association, playing tennis and spending time with family and friends. Previously, he worked at Motor Components and Hillard Corp. He was an outstanding athlete, loving and excelling at many sports, but tennis was his true love. He was a certified tennis instructor and stringer. He served on the board as VP of the Greater Elmira Tennis Association (GETA) and worked behind the scenes on the local tennis tournaments. Rich was also involved as a volunteer with Arctic League and Small Fry. He loved working with youth and helping them achieve their full potential. He loved his family and friends, and always took time to help others. Rich was a great role-model to many, making an impact and difference in his community. He treated everyone with the utmost respect and made all whom he met feel special. His enthusiasm and love for life was contagious. He will truly be missed!
