Mary Ann, I was so sorry to hear of Rich’s passing. He was a good friend to all and will be missed by many but especially his family. My deep condolences to you and all of his family. He made an impression on me when he could jump rope like a teenager and deliver a completed tennis racket to someone in the back driveway in between jumping while we both were at the Arnot gym! I couldn’t even begin to know how to jump rope anymore! Let alone string a tennis racket! He helped me just last year when my husband was ill and he was there to greet us in the ED. It gave me comfort that he was there. His smile and laugh were the best! My prayers will be for all of you during these difficult days. Ruth Stoddard

I received the news of Rich’s passing on Wednesday. The news was absolutely unreal and devastating sad. I am still in disbelief.
Rich was a very close friend who I met through tennis. We were competitors, teaching colleagues, but most importantly friends.
Rich always had a smile to give and never a bad word. He was “the racquet stringer” to the Elmira-Corning tennis community and was one of the original founders of the Greater Elmira Tennis Association (GETA). His passing impacts so many people in the community.
My sincere condolences to Mary Ann, Aletha, and the rest of Rich’s family.

Mary Ann,
I am so sorry to hear this news. Rich was truly one special guy. I've known him since 1st grade at SSPP school and all through ND. He made everyone laugh, for sure. I'll always remember when his dad lived near us in Pine City and Rich faithfully went to visit him. We lived on a corner lot and Rich drove by all the time to see a big group of boys in my yard. When he saw they were playing "tennis ball baseball", he often stopped and dropped bunches of tennis balls off for them. The boys all knew him as the "tennis ball guy"! Please know you and your family are in our prayers.
